4. Manage Expectations

As a leader, you need to help your team figure out what they should do and create realistic expectations for their work. You should also assign tasks to be done and the reasons behind them, this helps your team know how you will measure success.

This involves defining the scope, deadlines, and deliverables for each task or project that is being worked on by the team. This would help you know what everyone is working on each day and week.

5. Focus on Outcomes, Not Activity

It is impossible to manage every aspect of work done by each member of a remote team. As a leader, resist the urge to manage every aspect of their work. Trust each of them.

Instead of focusing on the activity engaged by each person, focus on the outcomes and measure your team accordingly.

6. Resource Your team

It is important that each member of your team has the right technology and tools needed to get the work done. Remote workers need tools like laptops, software, mobile devices, and high-speed internet connection.

Do not assume all of them have these things, ask and make sure they have all the resources needed which would help them deliver on the job.

7. Flexibility is Important

Leaders should always reconsider what productivity really means. Getting the work done should be the paramount thing not minding the time it is done. A productive team member may not like regular work hours.
